I'm trying to not be hard on myself cause I'm dragging. Even with putting the clocks back it is almost three and I haven't started work yet! That is because it's Sunday and I don't wanna!!!!
Ok, enough. Papers to grade and chapter to write. So I'm going to make something to eat (and not go out for brunch cause I don't have the time or money for that right now, although there's this great place near my house.....) and go to my campus office. If I stay home then for sure I will get no work done.
Here's to working weekends!

if at first.....
Ok, I've been fooling around with this for a while now and I've done some tweaking. More to come sooner (rather than later). Off to bed as it is danger of getting early.....and tomorrow or should I say later today is another day for 1) writing that dissertation chapter! (rough draft due on Tuesday or else.....) and 2) grading papers.

...the spirits made me do it!!
Well here it is - my blog!! I have been enjoying reading other blogs on a regular basis for a while now. And finally decided to write my own. Somehow it just seemed to be satisfying to the writers of the ones that I read on a regular basis (Professing Mama, Acada(me) and New Kid on the Hallway. And not that I am putting myself in their league or holding myself to the high standard that they set (substantative, thoughtful, grammatic and entertaining posts on a regular basis).
I do share some basics with the writers of these blogs though. I spend most of my time (ok all of my time) involved in the world commonly referred to as 'academia'. However, unlike them, I am an aspiring assistant professor. This means that not only am I in the midst of writing my dissertation I am also on the job market. Aaaah, now the jumbie in my blog's title starts to make sense (jumbie is the West Indian name for a ghost or spirit, usually mischievous).
So welcome to you (if you are reading this) and to me. Here's hoping this new space well help me to exorcise my jumbie, that is get my dissertation done!!
